Private crypto swaps

What an observer actually sees on-chain

Below are real (abbreviated) settlement records from two of our swaps — one standard, one private. This is the exact difference, not an illustration.

Standard swap — fully readable
"signer_id": "kipseli.near",// the market maker — visible
"intents": [{
"intent": "token_diff",
"diff": {
"…usdt-on-ethereum…": "-9998128",// amount out — visible
"…usdt-on-tron…": "+9999990"// amount in — visible
}
}]

Anyone can read the assets, both amounts, and the market maker who filled the trade.

Private swap — the same lookup
"signer_id": "da8aa2…98b695",// opaque one-time account
"intents": [{
"intent": "transfer",
"memo": "ASuiqBxr5WOC7…"// encrypted — nothing readable
}]
// no rate · no counter-asset · no counterparty

Only a shielding transfer with an encrypted memo is visible. The trade itself left no public record.

How a private swap works

You swap as usual

Pick a route, get a live quote, and send your deposit — the flow is identical to a standard CryptoRoute swap. No account, no KYC for standard amounts.

Settlement moves to a private chain

Instead of settling where public indexers can watch, the swap executes on FAR — a permissioned, private fork of NEAR operated for the NEAR Intents protocol. Balances and swap details there are not visible to public explorers.

You receive on the destination chain

The output lands at your recipient address like any other swap. CryptoRoute never holds your funds at any point — the flow stays fully non-custodial.

What is hidden — and what is not

We think privacy claims should be precise. Here is exactly what the confidential relay does:

Hidden from the public

Swap amounts, balances and settlement details on the private chain are not visible to public block explorers or indexers.

Visible on public chains

Your deposit on the origin chain and the payout on the destination chain are normal public transactions on those chains.

Not anonymity

The private chain is operated by a permissioned validator set that can see its transactions. This is shielding from public view — not cryptographic anonymity.

Still non-custodial

CryptoRoute never holds or controls your funds; execution is by the NEAR Intents settlement protocol.

Private swap FAQ

Is a private swap anonymous?

No — and anyone telling you otherwise is overclaiming. Amounts and details are shielded from public explorers, but the private chain's operators can see transactions, and your deposit and payout are normal public transactions on their chains.

Do I need an account or KYC?

No account is required. Standard swaps have no identity KYC; the same policy applies to private swaps.

Does a private swap cost more?

The CryptoRoute fee is the same. Quotes may differ slightly because confidential liquidity is provided by a dedicated set of market makers.

Can I still track my swap?

Yes — your track page works as usual (status, deposit, payout). What it will not show is the public settlement trail, because there deliberately is none.

Which routes support private swaps?

Look for the "Private swap" toggle in the swap widget on a route page. Coverage expands as confidential liquidity grows.

Try a private swap

Pick any supported route and enable the "Private swap" toggle before you confirm.
